Prophecy Coles: The Uninvited Guest

Jun. 10, 2011

Prophecy Coles writes, ‘I will talk about a book on intergenerational history, which I have been working on for some time, and which will be finished by April 2011.  In it, I explore the way generational trauma may be handed down across several generations.  Dead grandparents or great grandparents may be lying in unmarked graves of psychic history as, of course, can siblings from previous generations.

Prophecy Coles is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist in private practice.  She has published quite intensively on the place sibling relationships have in the internal world.  In 2003 Karnac published ‘The Importance of Sibling Relationships in Psychoanalysis’.  In 2005 she commissioned and edited a volume, also published by Karnac, ‘Sibling relationships’.  She is currently working on a new book for Karnac that extends the idea of sibling relationships within the internal world and includes ancestral history and our grandparents and great grandparents.
