Children and Adolescents Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy for children and adolescents
Child and adolescent psychotherapists are specifically trained to work with children and young people and will use age appropriate forms of intervention. With younger children, for instance, play and art materials are used to enable the therapist to get a better understanding of a child's inner world.
The therapist seeks to understand the meaning of any difficulties or symptoms or behaviour patterns and helps a child or young person to develop in an emotionally healthy way.
A child and adolescent psychotherapist also works with the parents or other carers, depending upon the age of the child or young person and the type of difficulties.
